THE PRINGLE FAMILY

PERCIVAL A. PRINGLE (1)
& CHAUNCY A. PRINGLE

Dennis Forsland & John Thompson

In the late 1950s and early 1960s there was a “brother” tag team of Percy & Chauncy Pringle that worked the Barnett-Doyle promotion in the Detroit area.

Percival Pringle was Canadian wrestler Dennis Forsland, who competed under many names, such as Eric the Great, Logger Forsland and Swede Forsland.

PERCY PRINGLE (2)

Bobby Bass

Bobby Bass wrestled across North America for several decades as “No Class” Bobby Bass. He used the name Percy Pringle name throughout the 1970s in the American Wrestling Association (AWA) and the Central States region.

William Moody

In 1978, working for International Championship Wrestling (IWA) in Mississippi, William Moody was given the Percy Pringle name by booker Frankie Cain. Not even knowing there were previous men before him, Moody added the “third” as a flourish. A managerial career was born.

MOTHER PRINGLE

Though she was frequently mentioned throughout Percy’s run in Florida, Mother Pringle only made one appearance in the wrestling world, on March 14, 1979 at the Jackson Coliseum, Jackson, MS.

I was managing my Mongolian, Tio, against AWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel. If Tio lost, I had to get my hair cut. Former lady wrestler Bonnie Watson, wife of Mid-Atlantic referee Stu Schwartz, played my “Mother.”

PEGGY LEE PRINGLE

During Percy’s run in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), his “sister” was brought in to challenge ladies wrestler Mad Maxine. Maxine did not like Percy’s interference and rule breaking ways and would go out of her way to stop him. Though Percy was more than willing to face the 6-foot, 4-inch giant of a woman, he wisely opted to bring in his sister instead.

Veteran wrestler Peggy Lee Leather, a former WWF performer and partner of Wendi Richter, played the Peggy Lee Pringle role.

“MARVELOUS” MARCEL PRINGLE

Lennie Hawkins and Bill Moody were friends going back to the early days as fans. Lennie adopted the Marcel Pringle name in 1980 and was a “cousin” of Percy Pringle.

DJ PRINGLE

Daniel Moody, the real life son of Bill Moody, worked the southern independents for several years. He was managed by his father several times, even teaming with his father in tag team bouts in the Gulf Coast Region. DJ Pringle was the son of Percy Pringle, of course.

COUSIN ELMER PRINGLE

Lennie and Bill officially designated Kurt Nielsen as a Pringle in 2004 during a trip to Mobile, Alabama. He adopted the name “Elmer” from Uncle Elmer, who was also known as Gulf Coast legend Stan “Plowboy” Frazier. Cousin Elmer has made sporadic wrestling appearances, but mainly works as a comedic character in one-man vaudeville shows.
