I have always said many times in various interviews that when I first began my journey to the top of the wrestling business, I always dreamed of working in Madison Square Gardens and in my hometown arena. I said that I would be willing to quit the business after achieving those dreams. However, I remember quite well that night I first appeared in “The Gardens.” Returning to the locker room from the ring, I had no thoughts of retiring. Instead, I wanted to know when we would be back in New York City again. The had the same feelings after my first peformance in Mobile.
It’s ironic that after a year away from WWE, and saying that I would probably never return, I have performed in both of my “dream venues” in a span of just three weeks. I have been busy the past couple of days doing all that I can with the media in the Mobile area. It is something that I have always enjoyed doing, especially in my hometown. Notwithstanding the great connections that I have made in the local television, radio, newspaper, and arena; it’s a fine ego boost having your family and friends seeing your name back on the top again.
During my usual routine early this morning, I walked down the driveway to pick up the newspaper. Bending over to pick it up, my eyes met the eyes of an old familiar face staring back at me from the front page. It was none other than Paul Bearer himself! I have had the pleasure of being featured in The Mobile Register many times during my career, however this time it was page one. Am I ready to retire now? Please… what do you think?
In a few hours, I will walk down the aisle of The Mobile Civic Center next to my long time business associate The Undertaker. Seated on the front row will be my Mom and Dad, my wife, sons, and daughter-in-law. Of course, scattered around the building will be many other family members, friends, and fellow Mobilians. There are really no words to describe the feeling. It’s so good to be back home again, doing what I was destined to do. I just wish I could allow each and everyone of you to share in the experience. I have certainly been blessed in my career, so many times. For that, I have you all to thank.
Tomorrow, we will remain in The Great State Of Alabama, as we visit The Dothan Civic Center at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Monday night, it’s a return to my old World Class/USWA stomping grounds Dallas, Texas, and The American Airlines Arena. Then Tuesday evening, we will be in another favorite City, San Antonio, and The SBC Center.
Once again I appreciate you stopping by PercyPringle.Com, and we hope that we will see you in your hometown very soon!
Take care and God Bless.
